On May 18, 2023, USAID Advancing Nutrition in the Kyrgyz Republic collaborated with the Kara-Dariya local government to launch a nutrition campaign in Kara-Darya Ayil Okmotu, a rural village in the western part of Jalal-Abad Oblast. The campaign aims to raise awareness about nutrition best practices and the prevention of anemia and vitamin deficiencies. The entire village actively participated in the initiative, engaging in a culinary contest where six teams prepared and demonstrated delicious and nutritious meals for the whole family. Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy a photo exhibition that showcased the consequences of anemia and the benefits of a nutritious diet. Organizers also arranged lively concerts, quizzes, and games focused on promoting healthy nutrition and preventing anemia.

The event emphasized the importance of community engagement in addressing anemia and fostering healthier eating habits. It also underscored USAID Advancing Nutrition’s commitment to serving as a platform for knowledge-sharing and lasting, positive behavior change.
