Chief of Party, Kenya

Peter is a health systems specialist and capacity development expert with almost 20 years of experience in health, education, livelihoods, governance, and advocacy. He joins USAID Advancing Nutrition from Concern Worldwide, where he served as programme director and nutrition project lead for the USAID/Nawiri project. Peter brings extensive experience working with Kenya’s Ministry of Health (MOH) and USAID, as well as local county governments and academic institutions. He has worked with nutrition and health systems in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid counties and provided leadership to Isiolo and Marsabit Counties to implement their County Nutrition Action Plans. At IntraHealth International, Peter served as deputy chief of party for the USAID-funded FUNZOKenya project and health workforce training team lead for the Human Resources for Health Kenya project. In these roles, Peter has provided technical leadership to the MOH, county governments, medical training colleges, and health regulatory boards and councils to align pre-service and in-service health workforce education for service delivery of HIV and AIDS, family planning, and nutrition programs. Peter holds an MBA from the University of Nairobi, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from Kenyatta University, and is pursuing a PhD in Leadership and Governance from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He has worked in Kenya, South-Sudan, Tanzania, and Guyana.
