A team of technical experts from USAID Advancing Nutrition joined a Society for International Development event on October 28th to present on project efforts to support activities integrating nutrition into agriculture and economic growth interventions. The event included a discussion on successes and challenges related to designing nutrition-sensitive agriculture programs and potential resources and opportunities for program implementers to fill identified gaps.

The Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Design Guide Community of Practice (CoP), launched in early 2021, provides members with tailored technical assistance to support facilitation of the Designing Effective Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Activities workshop and application of those concepts to programming. Hosted by USAID and USAID Advancing Nutrition, the CoP allows members to participate in online discussions and share their experiences using the guide.

During the SID-Washington virtual event, USAID Advancing Nutrition Capacity Strengthening Technical Director Ann Miceli spoke on the background of the Facilitator’s Guide: “This design guide was specifically developed to help Chiefs of Party and activity teams to think through how to effectively design [agriculture] activities to get at … nutrition outcomes.”
