Engaging community members and elevating their voices is a priority for USAID Nawiri and has been highlighted as a key to its success. This brief summarizes lessons from the program’s experience engaging stakeholders and communities and how they will be applied going forward. USAID Nawiri learned to monitor and facilitate feedback loops on planned interventions that resonate with community members’ context and needs. Several strategies worked well, including elevating the visibility of local actorsas community nutrition champions; forming multi-sectoral teams at program inception; and gathering community insight on contextual challenges and potential solutions. The team also found that using a comment and feedback tracker helped integrate learning, and that there is a need to apply systems-thinking to developing or ongoing crises and ensure adherence to do-no-harm principles.
