Chief of Party, Honduras

With over 17 years of experience in senior positions, Monica Rodriguez is a project manager with technical expertise in food assistance, food security, nutrition programming, and emergency response. As the Chief of Nutrition for UNICEF Venezuela, she coordinated the nutrition strategy nationwide at a high level, working with the Ministry of Health, National Institute of Nutrition, and UNICEF implementing partners (both international and local NGOs) as part of the Venezuela Humanitarian response. Ms. Rodriguez built strategic alliances within a highly complex political and economic context.

She also served as the Chief of Party (COP) for the 7-year USAID/FFP project, "Food Security for the First One Thousand Days of Life (SEGAMIL)" for CRS/Guatemala. In this role, Ms. Rodriguez managed a consortium team of 271 staff with a $46 million USD budget. Additionally, she served as the Monitoring and Evaluation Regional Advisor for Save the Children's USAID/Title II food security programs in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, and Bolivia. Monica was also the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation for all CRS programs in Guatemala.

Her background in research offers a skillset for evidence-based project implementation and monitoring and evaluation systems for systematic data collection and reporting on project performance. She possesses strong coordination skills, demonstrated by leading the planning and implementation of the Chronic Malnutrition Reduction Plan at the national level in Guatemala. She coordinated with Ministries of Health, Agriculture, and the Food Security Secretariat, as well as international cooperation support for this plan, including the World Food Program, UNICEF, and the Pan American Health Organization.

Ms. Rodriguez's international experience brings technical expertise in nutrition-sensitive food assistance projects for both development and emergency focus. She holds a master's degree in nutrition and food policies from Tufts University, with a focus on world hunger, malnutrition, and development.
